Recycled Cartridge Lamp

Ink jet printers tend to go through ink cartridges at incredibly fast paces. Millions of ink cartridges are thrown away each year or recycled, or occasionally you find a method to refill them, although most printer manufacturers warn you not to mostly because they make significantly more money from the ink than from the printers themselves. But there’s other ways to recycle them.

One crafty Etsy seller, Boxlightbox, has managed to find a great use for all the empty cartridges his company was discarding- he turned them into lamps.

Cigarette Shaped Lighter

It’s a refillable butane lighter in the shape and form of a cigarette. This lighter has a clear advantage over a normal sized lighter- it can easily slip into your pack of cigarettes. Although I suppose that you could slip in a regular lighter into your pack too but you’d have to take out more smokes to fit it. So it’s a novelty, but then you’re looking at a lighter and you’re on CraziestGadgets.com so really what did you expect?

TV Bathtub

Industrial designer Karim Rashid is well known for his use of the rounded form to create blob-like objects with a smooth modern aesthetic. Well Rashid has taken his unique style to Korea’s Saturn Bath Co.  to design the TV Tub, a sleek bathtub with an integrated flat screen television at the foot of the tub. It’s made as one piece so it looks very finished unlike most other bathroom televisions. Made of liquid acrylic, this deep oval-shaped soaking tub makes this shower person want to take a bath.

Bubble Calendar

A poster-sized calendar with a bubble to pop every day, it puts our love of popping sheets of plastic bubbles to a useful purpose. The calendar is fully functional, with days of the week. The Bubble Calendar is appropriate for any design (and fun) conscious home or office.

Solar Camera Strap

Here’s a smart concept- a camera strap that has a build in solar panel to keep your camera’s battery charged up. Designed by Weng Jie, this concept adds a bit of green technology to an otherwise mundane item- the strap. If you’re going to be walking around outside anyway, and it doesn’t add too much weight to the strap, then it makes perfect sense to be charging your camera up. Excellent idea...
